Biography
Federico Bonacossa graduated from the University of Miami in 2009 where he completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Classical Guitar Performance on a full scholarship.
At the University of Miami, he studied guitar with Rene Gonzalez and Rafael Padron and took composition lessons with Lansing McLoskey, Dennis Kam, and Scott Stinson as well as jazz guitar lessons from Randall Dollahon. Federico also holds a Masters degree in Guitar Performance from the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland, where he studied with Julian Gray, and a diploma from the Conservatorio Statale Pierluigi da Palestrina in Cagliari, Italy where he studied with Luigi Mazzullo. He also has studied privately with Kennesaw State Professor and GFA winner, Mary Akerman and with jazz guitarist Tom Lippincot. He is also an active composer and arranger and a member of the Miami Guitar Trio. Some of his recent performances with MGT include concerts for the Society of Composers Inc., the Miami International Guitar Festival, Guitar Sarasota, the Miami Bach Society, the State College of Florida, and a live concert for WLRN. He also performs regularly with Singer Susana Behar and violinist Federico Britos, with whom he recently performed at the Sephardic Jewish Synagogue in Lima, Peru. He also collaborated with Dance Now Miami in the creation of Six Characters for which he composed the original score.
Federico is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in music composition at Florida International University on a full scholarship and teaching assistantship. He studies composition with Dr. Orlando Garcia.
